چکیده

This paper presents IPH-TRIM3D-PCLake, a three-dimensional complex dynamic model for subtropical aquatic ecosystems. It combines a spatially explicit hydrodynamic model with a water-quality and biotic model of ecological interactions. The software, which is freely available for research purposes, has a graphical user-friendly interface and a flexible design that allows the user to vary the complexity of the model. It also has built-in analysis tools such as Monte Carlo sensitivity analysis, a genetic algorithm for calibration, and plotting tools. 2009 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. Effects of water stratification and mixing on microbial community structure in a subtropical deep reservoir

Microorganisms play pivotal roles within aquatic ecosystems, affecting their structure, functioning and services. However, little is known about the effects of water stratification and mixing on the aquatic microbial community dynamics in subtropical reservoirs. In this study, we explored vertical and seasonal patterns of microbial diversity in the Dongzhen Reservoir (southeast China). Quantita...

Physico-biological modeling of seasonal changes of plankton community in south of Hormoz strait

Planktons are floating microscopic organisms that are confirmed as the primary producers and initial transporters of carbon to the higher levels of food webs. Moreover, planktons have an special importance and status in the habitat of aquatic ecosystems and therefore, their population dynamic assessment is essential in the study of these ecosystems. An extensive range of physical factors viz. n...

Mycobacterium ulcerans Ecological Dynamics and Its Association with Freshwater Ecosystems and Aquatic Communities: Results from a 12-Month Environmental Survey in Cameroon

BACKGROUND Mycobacterium ulcerans (MU) is the agent responsible for Buruli Ulcer (BU), an emerging skin disease with dramatic socioeconomic and health outcomes, especially in rural settings. BU emergence and distribution is linked to aquatic ecosystems in tropical and subtropical countries, especially to swampy and flooded areas. Aquatic animal organisms are likely to play a role either as host...

Numerical solution of base shear in high tensioned cable antenna

A finite element solution based on equevalent elements is proposed for the static and dynamic analysis of tallhigh tensioned cable antennas. To reduce high number of degrees of freedom in space frame body of a structure, a simple equivalent beam element is defined for each simulative substructure. This numerical procedure is applicable to analyze complex three dimensional assemblies of substruc...

Knowledge sharing technologies to support community participation in natural resource management: a research agenda

In natural resource management (NRM), people and communities communicate, interact and interrelate though social and institutional networks. In such a complex physical world, knowledge sharing takes place through three types of interactions: people with information, people with people and people with ecosystem models (terrestrial, aquatic, agricultural ecosystems). While Information and Communi...
